In his first season in Italy after 25 years spent in Spain, Iit’s not been difficult for Juan Carlos Barcala to adapt to the A2. After a shy start, the outside hitter has become one of the most important pieces of Padova’s starting six. He has now tallied 231 points in 19 games. He’s having a spectacular season and not only on court: His little Daniela was born on the 14th of January.

“It’s not easy to arrive in a foreign country and settle in straight away. You need time – said Barcala – When Daniela was born I realised I was very tense, now me and my wife are feeling more at home. Daniela’s birth made me more responsible as a man. You live for your family and not for yourself anymore. Maybe this can help me in my job too, but only time will tell”. Padova will face Bassano this weekend.
