The second new element of the Volley 2001 Garlasco roster has been made official: it is the hammer Leonardo Baciocco, a Ligurian striker born in 2000 who has 6 seasons between A2 and A3 clubs.

Baciocco (197cm) started in Lavagna, then moved to Rome together with the selected Club Italia. The experience away from home certainly accelerated his personal and volleyball growth: “After the youth academies in Lavagna, at the age of fifteen I moved to Club Italia to play in A2. Leaving home at that age is a decisive step: at the beginning it is difficult, but then it is an incomparable training opportunity. At Club Italia I met Michele Totire, one of the coaches who most influenced my growth and my vision of the game and whom I also followed in Santa Croce in A2 ”.

A young striker in full maturity arrives at the disposal of coach Vittorio Bertini: “The one in Garlasco will be my seventh year between A2 and A3. I am not yet an experienced player, in fact I am working a lot on some fundamentals, such as reception and serve, having only started hitting spin for a couple of years. In volleyball, as in any sport, the more balls and situations you face, the more you learn which is the best shot to play. For example, in recent years I have been learning to manage the situation by making more use of the hands of the wall ”comments the attacker.

The season in Pavia promises to be important for the Ligurian hammer, who comments clearly on the level of play in the category: “I played in A2 when the A3 was not yet invented. I therefore experienced different levels of play and I can say that the level of A2’s top formations remains superior, precisely in terms of game speed. In the next season the A3 promises to be very competitive and I believe that some formations will approach the level of play of the higher series ”.

“I can’t wait to start and get to know my new teammates: I am very present and participatory at the team level and I think it is essential to share moments and sensations to be able to come out of complex situations together – concludes Baciocco – it will therefore be the group is decisive ”.
