The second line of the next Sir Safety Susa Perugia will still be Massimo Colaci’s home!
The libero from Puglia born in 1985 renews for another season with the Block Devils, the next one will be the seventh consecutive year in the black and white jersey.
Arrived in Perugia in 2017, the thirty-eight-year-old from Salento immediately conquered everyone with his performances on the pitch and with his kind manners and his character outside the pitch.
An endless career, an incredible palmares, an overflowing bulletin board for medals won with clubs and with the national team… but Max is still there, still one of the best in his role, still a guide for his younger teammates, still an example to follow . Still wearing the black and white shirt.
“Was I expecting in 2017 to still be here after all these years? Honestly, I was hoping for it”, Colaci replies sincerely as always. “I was hoping to stay in Perugia for a long time, never to move again. For many reasons, because I became part of a strong team and club, for reasons related to my family and for issues related to the quality of life. My impact in Perugia was immediately positive, we immediately got on well with my family and so my desire has always been to stay. Then it is clear that every year you always have to prove that you are up to it. For all this, I am very happy with the renewal at SIR”.
Thirty-eight springs are an important age, sportingly speaking. But Colaci demonstrates every day that in the end we are only talking about a number.
“When the years begin to pass, you have to be good at changing something. You have to train more than when you were young, you have to pay attention to the details, you have to spend a few more times in the physiotherapists’ room even for prevention alone, you have to take better care of your body and your diet. And then mentally it is necessary to have the desire to always get involved, learn to bear criticism and above all to have the desire to win. Only the combination of all this can allow you to remain at high levels”.
