“As soon as I spoke with the president and the management, it was a spark: I was immediately convinced by the project they have in mind and the prospects it will create, so I didn’t think twice about saying yes.” These are the first words of Alessio Matteini, the new spiker for Emma Villas Codyeco Lupi Siena. Born in Prato in 2005, 200 cm tall, he grew up in the fertile youth sector of Lanieri before moving, in the 2023-24 season, to the then Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce, a club with which he played in the A2 championship, as well as in Serie B and the Under-19 team (national finals). A true “joker”, capable of playing multiple roles, he specialized as a position four attacker: an evolution brought to completion during the 2024-25 season which concluded with Codyeco Lupi’s promotion to Serie A3.
