Emma Villas Siena is preparing for the next championship match. Cantù will arrive at PalaEstra on Sunday at 5.30pm: it is the tenth day of the return round, so there are just four games left until the end of the regular season.
The Sienese will try to continue their positive trend: in the last four days coach Gianluca Graziosi’s team has won four victories, and on three occasions they did so away from home. Emma Villas Siena won in Cuneo, in Porto Viro, then at home against Prata di Pordenone and finally in Catania. The Sienese have thus gained 9 points in the last four days of the tournament; Emma Villas is currently in seventh position in the standings with 34 points. The seventh position in the ranking is the last one that gives the right to qualify for the playoffs. The Sienese will try to defend it in these last weeks of the regular season: at the moment Pineto is in eighth position in the standings with 32 points and Fano is in ninth position with 30 points.
Cantù is in tenth position in the standings with 27 points: from a playoff perspective it has 7 points less than Siena which is seventh while from a survival perspective it has 8 points ahead of Reggio Emilia which with 19 points occupies the penultimate position in the ranking, and at the end of the regular season the last two teams in the standings will be relegated to Serie A3.
Cantù won the last two matches of their championship, gaining 6 very precious points: 0-3 in Pineto and then 3-0 at home against Reggio Emilia. Against Conad, last day, an excellent success for the Brianza team who benefited from 20 points from Nicola Tiozzo and 17 from Marco Novello.
