Delta Volley Porto Viro has a new face on the bench of the men’s Serie A2 team. Alongside the confirmed head coach Matteo Bologna, the Polesine club has appointed Giacomo Bellei as assistant coach. Bellei was a member of the club’s staff for three years, between 2021 and 2024, and was also a member of the club’s staff last season.
For Bellei, who turned 38 on February 7th, this is his first coaching role, a role in which he will be able to capitalize on his extensive experience as a player. A journey that began in 2004 and concluded in 2025 saw him play for 17 seasons in Serie A (eight in SuperLega, eight in Serie A2, and one in Serie A3), with over 450 matches played and nearly 3,800 points scored. He has won a Challenge Cup (2016) and an Serie A2 Italian Cup (2008), both while playing for Verona.
The third-highest scorer in Delta Volley’s history in Serie A with 649 points, Bellei remained loyal to President Veronese’s club even after finishing his tenure with the black-and-fuchsia jersey. Last season, in particular, represented a transition to his new role as coach, allowing him to experience the dynamics of the first team firsthand and work closely with the players and coaching staff.
“I am very happy and excited to embark on this new journey,” Bellei said. “I must thank President Veronese and Sports Director Zambonin for their trust in me, as they saw the right qualities in me for this role. Continuing to work for Delta Volley means continuing to be part of an ambitious project, an organization that for years has aimed to be a point of reference not only in sport but for the entire region, from institutions to partners, and families.”
