A tournament that already has the flavor of the championship starter. In Tortoreto, in the province of Teramo in Abruzzo, an event will take place over the weekend involving three Serie A2 teams and one Serie A3 team. Siena, Ravenna and Prata play in A2, Fano is a team that has good ambitions in A3.

These are summer tournaments, whose value is therefore relative. These matches will serve to understand what point the preparation of the various teams has reached in view of the start of the official season. They are test matches useful for refining team chemistry, as they say in the jargon.

Emma Villas Siena arrives at this event after three test matches already played which have provided various good responses. The blue and whites won their first friendlies against A2 teams like Santa Croce and Ravenna (who will also be present in Tortoreto) and then drew 2-2 at PalaBarton against a Perugia team who were however missing many of the volleyball players on their roster.

Coach Gianluca Graziosi therefore had the opportunity to test his players on the field and how the team is forming and reacting to preparation training. Now there will be this new two-day test in Abruzzo, which will provide new answers.

Before the start of the championship, Siena will have other away commitments regarding test matches, against Ravenna (1 October) and against Santa Croce (8 October).

In Tortoreto tomorrow afternoon Siena will face Fano in the first semi-final at 4pm. The Marche team is coached by coach Paolo Tofoli, former Siena coach with whom he won the Serie A2 Italian Cup in the 2016-2017 season. It is not the first time that Tofoli will face the Sienese team as a former player.

The other semi-final will follow between Ravenna and Prata, where Terpin and Scopelliti and the former Lucconi and Iannaccone play. Ravenna, where the former Sienese Rocco Panciocco plays, has already challenged Siena during this pre-season and the Tuscans emerged victorious 3-1 from the test match.

The two finals in Tortoreto will be played on Sunday. The final for third place from 3pm to 5.30pm will be the time for the first place match between the two teams that won the semi-finals.
