The fifth round of the group stage of the CEV Champions League 2024 smiles on Piacenza and Trento, victorious in three sets, but reserves a partial setback (in the fifth set) for Civitanova, already mathematically in the lead in Pool E. The victory in Ankara Piacenza gets through to the next round (the final position still to be defined), while Trento’s success in Ljubljana earns first place in Pool B.

Clear result in the first leg of the CEV Cup Play Off for what could have been, given the technical level, a sort of early final of the second European competition. At the Arena Sosnowiec, Allianz Milano did not play the best match of the season, suffering decidedly aggressive opponent play starting from the serve in particular in the second and third sets. Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie’s 11 aces weigh heavily on the match. As well as the streak of the Polish opposite Karol Butryn, author of 27 points in three sets with a monstrous 68% in attack, even higher than the 62% of captain Bieniek, who scored 10 points from the center including the last ones of the match. The match was based on a nice first set played for a long time in balance and with Allianz capable of leading. The Milanese team must start from this for the return match, the match that will be played at the Allianz Cloud next Thursday from 8.00 pm.
