We are getting ever closer to Game 1 of the Scudetto Final of the SuperLega Credem Banca Play Offs which, on the evening of Thursday 18 April, will see the hosts Sir Susa Vim and Mint Vero Volley Monza, having arrived for the first time at the final stage of the Scudetto sprint.
Analyzing the participations of the athletes of the two finalists, it emerges that for 19 of them it is the first Final ever of their careers: this is Thomas Beretta, who boasts 9 participations in the Play Offs without having reached the final act; Stephen Maar with 6 appearances, Gabriele Di Martino (4 participations) and Gianluca Gaggini (3 participations), among the players with the most ‘history’ from a Play Off point of view.
It will also be the first Scudetto Final for the Block Devils Herrera, Flavio, Ropret and Semeniuk, in their second participation in the Play Offs, like Kreling and Szwarc from Brianza. First participation in the Play Offs, and therefore first Final ever, for Ben Tara, Held and Toscani (Sir Susa Vim Perugia) and for Comparoni, Loepkky, Morazzini, Mujanovic, Takahashi and Visic (Mint Vero Volley Monza). Furthermore, Ran Takahashi is the second Japanese athlete to reach the Scudetto Finals after his compatriot Kato Yoichi, who succeeded twice (the first in 2002/03 with Treviso, winning the title, the second in 2004/05 with Perugia ).
Only four athletes have already won the Italian championship: Colaci, in the tenth Play Off Final of his career, has 4 Scudetti won in his list (3 with Trento and one with Perugia), Giannelli has two (both with Trento), one each for Solè (victory with Trento) and Candellaro (triumph with the Lube shirt).
Instead, Leon (3 Finals), Plotnytskyi and Russo (2) and Galassi (1) are chasing their first success.
