Having turned 19 in September and gained experience with Consar Ravenna and Hokkaido Bologna, Leonardo Chiella is ErmGroup Altotevere’s investment in the libero role. He alternates with Filippo Pochini, who continues to be one of the most accurate players in the entire Credem Banca Serie A3 in terms of receiving, while the young player from Grosseto takes over when the team serves, which then prioritizes defense. On more than one occasion, Chiella has showcased both qualities, with sometimes spectacular saves and impressive athleticism. “The rotation isn’t a problem,” says Chiella, “although I wasn’t used to it until now. In fact, I’m very happy to play this role, which is important for the team, and I’m also happy to enjoy the staff’s trust. After all, I’m at the service of the team and I try to give what I’m asked to do.” There’s also nothing to complain about his relationship with Filippo Pochini, his senior colleague: “Excellent! I think his presence is crucial to my growth, because he gives me so much advice in training. He’s also a kind and helpful person, as well as obviously an expert on the pitch.”
