The Campi Reali Cantù team for the 2026/27 season is starting to take shape. And the first piece can only be the setter. Arriving from MA Acqua S. Bernardo Cuneo is the very young (born in 2006) Matteo Bonomi. The last two years in the second (with Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia) and first national divisions, respectively, served as learning opportunities. Now is the time to start putting what he’s learned so far into practice.

Coach Tommaso Invernici commented on the new arrival: “Matteo is a young man full of energy and a desire to do well. He’s a talent with a strong desire to grow and challenge himself. I’m convinced he’s an ideal fit for Cantù.”

These are the player’s words: “I’m really excited for next season: I can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be an important year for me: it’ll be my first season as a starter in Serie A, and I’m desperate to get back to playing regularly so I can grow. Over the last two years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot from two ‘sacred monsters’ like Simone Tiberti and Michele Baranowicz, but I really miss the pitch, and I want to get back to fully experiencing all the emotions that come from playing for every point until the very end. The PalaFrancescucci is a beautiful arena: I’ve already come here to play against Brescia, and I can’t wait to get to know the city. I really like the team the President is building: I’m confident we can have a lot of fun and achieve a lot of success. I know Cantù is an environment where you can work well, and without too much pressure, so that will help us. I’m sure we’ll give it our all on the taraflex to bring home the best possible result.”
