Just days after Sir’s latest feat, which, as Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia, won its second consecutive Champions League title, the club is summing up another extraordinary season that confirms President Gino Sirci’s club as one of the most successful volleyball clubs in recent history.
Sir Perugia’s history in the world of volleyball is truly incredible, a success story made possible by a visionary president, driven by great passion and, above all, the desire to aim high!
During the latest episode of Afterhours, Massimo Righi, President of the Lega Pallavolo Serie A, linked the club’s successes to President Gino Sirci’s spirit and his ability to replicate the winning organization of his achievements at the volleyball club: “These successes don’t happen by chance, because he brought a corporate philosophy to the club, combining it with great passion. This is a theme not only in volleyball, but also in work and life in general: even in the world of work, we have large, successful industrial projects that also involve this theme of passion. This aspect is indispensable in sport, and he has infected everyone, but there is not a moment of superficiality in the management of the company, on the part of all his collaborators. This was a great merit of Gino Sirci, forging a path with patience, because I remember the first times he came to the League, when the club was newly promoted from Serie B, he approached it with great humility, despite being already a hugely successful entrepreneur, and this humility led him to forge a path that is starting to be considered almost unrepeatable because the 19 wins in nine years are unique in the panorama.
Perugia has won a lot, but of these 19 trophies, won since 2017 (the year of the first Italian Super Cup won at the Eurosuole Forum) in just nine Super League seasons, the Champions League victory on Sunday in the Final Four at the Inalpi Arena was defined by President Gino Sirci as the greatest victory of all: “Sunday’s victory in Turin was the greatest and most important, because winning two consecutive European Cups is not a common thing, only very few teams have done it, and winning the first and then the second, therefore REPEATING, is fundamental. And we did it! This year we achieved not a poker, but a GRAND SLAM, which includes the World Championship, Italian Super Cup, Scudetto, and European Cup.
