With the coaching staff established, Delta Volley Porto Viro is now entering the heart of the first-team roster build. The transfer announcement cycle begins once again with the confirmation of Matteo Sperandio: the 1992-born middle blocker will next season be his eighth consecutive season in black and fuchsia, his third as captain.
The story of a great love, but also of a player who has often been decisive in Delta Volley’s fortunes. A native of Treviso (where he attended the youth team), 200 centimeters tall, Sperandio is the Polesine club’s all-time leading scorer in Serie A (834 points in 179 games). Even in the last season, in which—due to physical issues and competition from Eccher—he only made 16 appearances, he still made a visible impact, especially as a blocker. With 43 winning blocks in 51 sets played, he led the category in terms of average blocks per point per set (0.84), making a decisive contribution during the season’s most intense period, spanning the final four days of the Regular Season and the three playoff games.
In his career, Sperandio boasts a total score of 2,123 points scored in 460 matches and 16 seasons in Serie A, including three in SuperLega, 11 in A2 (a category he won in 2016 in Sora), and two in A3 (the last in 2021, which concluded with Porto Viro’s promotion).
