ErmGroup Altotevere has signed a full-time libero for the upcoming Credem Banca Serie A3 championship. He’ll be on the court both as a receiver and a defender, after the last two seasons saw the rotation of Pochini and Cioffi and Pochini and Chiella. The player chosen is Vittorio Broccatelli from Assisi, who turned 21 in early January, having been born in 2005. He grew up in the youth teams of Sir Safety Perugia, where he rose through the ranks and played in the Serie C championship. He then had the satisfaction of making his SuperLega debut at just 17 years old, wearing the “Block Devils” jersey. It was February 5, 2022, at the PalaBarton, where Sir faced Ravenna in a 3-0 victory. That day, starting libero Colaci wasn’t at his best, so Piccinelli was given the lead, but in the fourth set, coach Nikola Grbic decided it was Broccatelli’s turn. “It was a wonderful experience,” he says, “one you’ll never forget, and from Sir, it was the best recognition I could have received.” Broccatelli then played two seasons in Serie B with Sir, before moving to Sieco Service Ortona in Serie A2 and Serie A3. Last year, he stayed in the same division with Terni Volley Academy. “I enjoyed both Ortona and Terni,” he emphasizes, “and my journey now continues in Umbria, with a shift in the region from south to north.” Broccatelli now knows the Blue Group inside out, and since ErmGroup’s geographical placement is still unclear, he offers his opinion on the central-southern group: “The quality has undoubtedly improved. Even reading last year’s rosters, you can see how each year the team continues to improve, which also increases the motivation.”
