Tim Cup A1

Montecatini Terme to host TIM Cup A1 Final Four and TIM Cup A2 final on 30 and 31 January 2010.

The venue for the Tim Cup Final Four, scheduled on the 30th and 31st of January will be Montecatini Terme. Six years on, the 32nd cup final is back in Tuscany (Florence hosted the event in 2004, while Sansepolcro hosted the quarters in 2005).

The two semi finals will take place on Saturday 30, while the fans will be able to enjoy two finals on Sunday 31, with the A2 and A1 Cup finals.

All four games will be broadcasted on Rai Sport Più, live and differed. The schedule will be communicated soon.

The teams going through to Montecatini’s Final Four will be known after the single quarter final games of the Wednesday 30 December. As for the A2 cup, the 8 teams taking part will be known at the halfway point of the championship (27 December), then there will be the quarter finals on Wednesday 13 January and the semi finals on Wednesday 20 January.

The formula of the TIM Cup A1 2009-10 changes. The Final Eight has been abolished. The eight best classified teams halfway through the championship will meet in one single game. The best classified team will be the host (at the 30-12-2009). Four games without any chance of redeem leaves the door wide open for surprises. The four winners will go through to the Final Four: the usual end to the event which will crown the 32nd Italian cup winner of the history. The venue is still to be decided but the schedule is already known: it will be played on the Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January 2010. The crowd present in Forli’s PalaFiera will remember Macerata’s triumph last season. In front of almost 8.000 fans, De Giorgi’s team laid down the law at the expense of Cuneo. Led by Valerio Vermiglio, MVP for the second time running, the boys dressed in red and white confirmed themselves as cup kings for the second consecutive year. One thing is for sure, be that on court or amongst the fans, the excitement and competitiveness will be written all over the event this time round again.
