Albino Massaccesi (Lube Volley) new president.


 


The Italian Volleyball League Assembly met his morning to name the new president to take over Diego Mosna. “I leave the presidency with a big thank you to all the clubs and to the CEO Massimo Righi for the beautiful collaboration during all these years”.


 


Then, Albino Massaccesi introduced himself as the only candidate: “This is an emotional moment for me but I want to assume this responsibility to carry on the work done with the board of directors in the past. I am the kind of person available 24 hours a day for all the clubs. We will face some great challenges together”. Massacesi was elected by receiving 19 votes out of 25 (6 did not express their vote).


 


The election of the new board of directors followed. It will be composed of Gianrio Falivene (Top Volley Latina), Gino Sirci (Sir Safety Perugia), Arveno Joan (Altotevere Città di Castello-Sansepolcro) and Giuseppe Cormio (CMC Ravenna) for the SuperLega, and Michele Miccolis (Materdominivolley.it Castellana Grotte) and Massimo D’Onofrio (Sieco Service Ortona) for the Serie A2. Massimo Righi was confirmed as CEO by the new board of directors.


 


The election of Diego Mosna as honorary president was proposed by the new League President and welcomed unanimously with a warm applause. After ten years at the helm, Diego Mosna had announced a long time ago he did not wish to continue as League President.

Albino Massaccesi was born in Recanati on February 27, 1949. He entered the world of volleyball in 1968, at the early age of 18, he founded the club of Potenza Picena with a group of friends. He covered the positions of player, coach and manager. He immediately obtained promotion into the Regional Serie D. In his last year at Potenza, he was president.


In 1971-72 he received a call from Cus Macerata to coach the men’s team. In just four years, he got the team into the Serie B. In the meantime, his work as president of the Provincial FIPAV of Macerata heralds the start of a brilliant career as manager. In 1978, he founded Macerata Volley, which took part in the lowest division the first year, but quickly moved up the ladder. In three years the club was in the Serie C and in 1985, it celebrated promotion in the Serie B as Massaccesi was president. In 1990 he moved to the new born A.S. Volley Lube, where he still works today.


With the team from Treia, the current Italian Champion, Massaccesi covered various positions over the years: sport director, GM, president, and he is currently the vice president and CEO). He was also part of the Italian League’s board of directors from 1995 to 2004 and from 2010 to today.


 


Married to Vincenza, he has a 32-year-old son, coach in the youth academy and part of the first team coaching staff.
