For this time the curse of the TIM Cup did not work. Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo recovers Wijsmans, while Padova coach Bruno Bagnoli is forced to change his starting six and start the amtch with De Marchi that replaces Peter Platenik still injured.
The first set of Cuneo has a big change with Felizardo serves. His serve put great pressure and problems on Padova passers and the whole team keeps playing with confusion so that the first sets goes easilly to Cuneo.
In the second set great performance of the boys coached by Prandi: three of the first five points arrive with huge blocks. Padova tries to show a pride reaction in order to recover points in the set and they try to take advantage of the little confusion present in the attack of Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo. Cuneo keeps playing well in any case and at the second time out the team is ahead with the score of 16-9. Second and third set go easilly in Cuneo hands. The whole match goes easilly on Cuneo hands that will play on Saturday the semifinal in Milan.
Luis Diaz (Antonveneta Padova): “Despite the loss we can say that it has been a good match. They deserved the victory and they play very well. We actually miss a couple of important players and for us it was tougher than usual”.
Wout Wijsmans (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We were favourites before the match, but each match has itw own story. We played well but not very well, few mistakes in any case. In Milan we will play against Modena or Macerata, it doesn’t really matter which team…Let’s see!”
