Despite the 113 points to 104 in favour of Castellana Grotte, the latter eventually found itself on the losing end of a 3-2 encounter in Padova. The guest were close to the win but can be disappointed not to have brought home more than a point as it was better than its opponent in just about every area of the game: better percentage in attack and reception. The turning point might be found in the second set when Castellana wasted a 16-11 lead because of too many mistakes.
“After losing the second set this way – said sport director Primavera – we clearly overwhelmed our opponent taking the game to a fifth set. We had our chances but just couldn’t seal it”.
