Jiri Popelka put pen to paper and became the fourth player from the Czech Republic to wear Castellana Grotte’s shirt. The three previous ones were Mikyska (95/96), Karabec (05/06) and Kolacny (06/07).
Born in 1977, 204cm tall, Jiri completes the attack of coach Lattari. In his country, he won two cups and one league title (2000) with Budejovice. Then, in Belgium, he won two league titles in a row in 20001 and 2002 with Maaselik, as well as two cups and one Super cup. More trophies came in Poland, with Kedzierzyn, and in France, with Tours. At International level, he finished fourth at the European championship 1999.
