A new arrival at Tinet. The experienced Sebastiano Marsili has been signed to complete the yellow-blue setter. The thirty-year-old, originally from Mogliano Veneto, brings 11 seasons of Serie A experience to his name, the last of which was with Belluno Volley in Serie A3. Previously, he also played for Civita Castellana, Bergamo, Castellana Grotte, Tuscania, Palmi, and Macerata. He also spent two seasons in the Superleague with Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia.
“I fondly remember my experience in Vibo,” says the Veneto-born director, “and I clearly understood that the physicality and ball speed were significantly different from those in Serie A2 and Serie A3. It will be wonderful to return to those same stages.”
What convinced you to accept Prata’s offer, and what was your impression of him when you played against him?
“It’s always been my goal to return to the Superleague, and I’ve always followed Prata because I’ve been playing against them since my days in Treviso’s Serie B. When I played against them with Macerata a couple of seasons ago, I found an incredible environment, and even then I thought they didn’t belong in Serie A2, but had superior potential. Needless to say, I was happy when I received the call from Sporting Director Sturam: I think it was the fastest negotiation of my career.”
What characteristics would you like the emerging team to have? What do you think needs to be done to achieve the goal of staying up?
“Experience teaches me that the key is always team cohesion. I’m convinced that Simone Di Tommaso is very good at fostering this. I say this because he’s always had solid teams in this regard. As for staying up, we’ll need to be more mentally solid than our direct competitors, because I think it’s more difficult to play a season focused on staying up than a season focused on mental strength.”
