An assemblee of the Serie A clubs took place yesterday in Bologna. The main arguments were: the schedule of the European competitions, and the league playoff formula for next season. While the Cev still has to hand in its calendar, the clubs showed a preference for a new innovative formula in the playoffs: with the top 12 qualifying, with 3 groups of three teams in the quarter-finals to be played at home of the best classified teams at the end of the regular season. This would take place on three days during the Easter weekend and the winners of each group would meet in the semi-finals, to be played on the best of three games, and the Final V-Day would follow.
Meanwhile, the Volleyball League intend to be more severe on the registration process. Sanctions, points penalties could be introduced in accordance to the fault of the club.
VOLLEY MARKET. The usual three days dedicated to player trades and signings will take place in Bologna from July 12 to 14. The calendar of the new season will be revealed on July 14.
CLUB ITALIA. Following the relegation of the team that regrouped some of the most promising Italian youngsters, the Federation is said to be open to a similar project this season for a team in the A2, if their was to be a free place among the 16 teams.
