In the second day of the World Championships, Italy gathered its first win by coming back from two sets down against France and Verona’s middle blocker, Simone Anzani, made his debut in the decisive set. Win as well for Deroo’s Belgium team who swept Puerto Rico, while the USA of Sandler were defeated 2-3 by Iran, although the Verona player stood out with 49 points in two games, being top scorer of the competition. Finally, the Aussies of Zingel and White were beaten 3-0 by Poland.
