Castellana Grotte has signed Giacomo Bellei, outside hitter recently crowned winner of the Challenge Cup with Verona. Born in 1988, he grew up in Carpi then Modena before joining the Macerata youth ranks where he also made his pro debut in the Serie A1. Since then he played for eight years at the highest level wearing the shirts of Macerata, Montichiari, Forlì, Modena, Ravenna and Verona, where he spent his last three years. He won an Italian Cup A2 in 2008, with Verona again, while he triumphed in the Junior League with Macerata in 2007.

“Having ended this three-year spell in Verona with a triumph in Europe I really wanted a new challenge and play again with consistency – explained Bellei – I immediately looked for a club that could give me a starting role. Castellana has a great volleyball tradition and every year they manage to get excellent results. I hope to help the club get the best results possible with my enthusiasm and hard work, which is the only way to reach your goals in sport”.
