Second win for Cucine Lube Civitanova at World Championships for Clubs in Opole in Poland, a tie break win over the home team Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, coached by Andrea Gardini. Once again Tsvetan Sokolov was top scorer with 26 points, followed by Osmany Huantorena with 23. 13 blocks and 11 aces put on the ground by Giampaolo Medei’s team. A great performance by Lube, who will look forward the Semifinals of the tournament, one of the goals of the team approaching the event.

Verona defeated BCC at PalaFlorio in Bari, recovering the 3rd Round of Unipolsai Superleague, postponed due unavailability of PalaFlorio. Once again Nikola Grbic’s team was great in the fundamental of serve with Toncek Stern and Alen Pajenk, keeping Verona always in front for first two sets, won 25-23 and 25-20 also thanks to a great performance of Iranian Manavineshad, Mvp of the game with 22 points put on the ground. In third Calzedonia took the complete control of the game, winning easily 25-17 third set and game. Despite the loss, Castellana Grotte played a good game, especially in first set, with a good performance of greek Tzioumakas, 12 points for him.

At Palasport “Città di Frosinone” Biosì Indexa Sora lost 1-3 versus powerhouse Diatec Trentino, but fought back in third set after a bad start. This was the most important thing for Coach Mario Barbiero’s team, a reaction after a first set lost 25-13 with an embarassing performance. Sora fought back in second by losing again the partial 25-19, but in the third the home team was great in winning 25-18 the set, opening again the game. In fourth Trento reacted, and thanks to a great perofrmance by Uros Kovacevic, Angelo Lorenzetti’s team won set and game 25-22. Kovacevic wat the top scorer for Trento with 18 points, 16 for Nicholas Hoag and 14 for opposite Luca Vettori. For Sora the best scorer was Dusan Petkovic with 22 points.

We will continue to practice with the right mentality, as the coach says. We grabbed the first win in season versus Castellana, now we have to continue this way”.
Angelo Lorenzetti (Diatec Trentino): “Sora played a bad volleyball in first part of the game. Then they stepped up and put us in trouble. They came back and they fought hard. This is Superleague, every game is difficult. We were good in the end taking home the game, but we still have some big troubles to solve in our play”.
