Breakthrough for good governance in European Volleyball. The project ‘Go To Volley’ is starting to create a establishing a multi-label good governance certification in Volleyball. The men’s Italian Volleyball League (Lega Pallavolo Serie A) is full partner of the action.

The Austrian Volleyball federation (ÖVV) is leading a European project named ‘Governance implementation in Volleyball – Go2Volleyball’ funded by the EU Erasmus+ Sport programme.

The men’s Italian Volleyball League (Lega Pallavolo Serie A), the Croatian (HOS-CVF), Scottish (SVA) Volleyball federations as well as Belgium sports law firm Cresta and Polish foundation Institute for Sport Governance (ISG) will work together over 30 months, starting from January 2021 in the ‘Go²Volleyball’ action. “Go2Volleyball aims to establish a multi-label good governance certification in Volleyball – similar to the corporate social responsibility concept – together with a detailed report on the compliance status for each national Volleyball governing body across Europe” ÖVV president Gernot Leitner explains.

As such, a currently non-existing, evidence-based, reliable, simple, harmonised and clear information is to be made available to the public in Europe for the first time ever, “Go2Volleyball is also dedicated to a concrete and effective implementation of good governance principles within Volleyball governing body”” ÖVV General Secretary Philipp Seel reports.

To this end, transposition of good governance provisions in the regulatory framework of National governing body will be essential, encouraged through different tools as well as an innovative rewarding method developed by the project.” he says.

“We are proud to be partner in an Erasmus+ Sport project that aims such an important action of study and harmonization. Lega Volley has always paid attention to innovation of management practices and to valorise networking in relevant topics of work” declares Lega Volley President Massimo Righi. “The efficiency of our work and our sport depends also from European and international networks capacity to be in mutual contact and develop analysis and research projects, as in this case. This is the best way to grow together and offer new visions for the governance of our sport”.
