Emma Villas Siena is preparing to experience the last event of its pre-season. On Saturday 7 October starting from 6pm the biancoblu will be engaged in Santa Croce sull’Arno and will face Kemas Lamipel for the Parenti Trophy. The match between Siena and Santa Croce has now become a “classic” both in terms of championship matches and friendlies in preparation for the official season.

In the championship, from 2016 onwards, the two teams have faced each other ten times, with seven victories for the Sienese and three for the red and whites. But the two teams have also challenged each other many times in pre-season friendlies.

Now they will return to face each other in a friendly, the last of the pre-season for the two teams. The last direct clash in the championship is a good memory for the Sienese, who achieved an important victory at PalaParenti on 7 April 2022. That success gave the biancoblu the certainty of survival in the Serie A2 championship.

In a few days it will already be championship time. On October 15th, date of the first day, Siena will be engaged in Abruzzo against Ortona while Santa Croce will host Pineto at the PalaParenti.

Emma Villas is fresh from the test match played at PalaCosta against Ravenna. A joint training session that already had the flavor of the championship, with the two teams trying their best to do well in view of the start of the championship. The Sienese won the first two sets on this occasion, only to suffer a vehement comeback from the hosts who finally won the test match 3-2.

At the end of the match, Siena central defender Stefano Trillini released these statements: “I’m happy with how we approached this friendly match, we started with an excellent serve, pushing hard and doing well in the break phase. In the first two sets we played very well. But then we relaxed the pressure and our intensity a little, and I’m saddened by it. We can and must improve, even if it was a friendly match we wanted to win because every success boosts morale and the championship is now close. My performance? I’m quite satisfied, but I want to improve further on the wall. In the pre-season we are facing high-level teams, which is useful for us in view of the start of the championship.”
