The Slovakian middle blocker Tomáš Badáň born in 2005 for 198 cm of Novaky will be inserted in the central battery of Gioiella Prisma 23-24.

He grew up with VK Prievidza in the youth categories from 2018, then was immediately placed in the Extraliga first with COP Volley Trenčín until 2022, then with MITA Volleyteam Prievidza last season. Since 2015 he has been with the Slovak national team in the under 17 and 18 categories and since 2013 with the under 20.

He plays with the under 20 national team in the European Championship in Montesilvano in 2022, obtains recognition as the best Slovakian central defender in the cadet category in 2022, also winning the youth championship.

“I’m really excited to join the team – says Badáň – which competes in one of the best championships in the world. Since I started with volleyball, my dream has always been to play in Italy. This is a great opportunity to update my game and I’m ready to work as hard as possible. I can’t wait to meet the great players and learn from them. I am grateful to my home team ŠVK Tatran Banská Bystrica and also to Martin Nemec and his Nemec volleyball institute, because without them this occasion would have been impossible.”

The second coach Andriani, who has studied his characteristics in depth, describes him as follows: “The boy is an interesting young man in all technical aspects. He is a modern centre-back: very athletic and quite good at handling the ball. He has a serve already well set up in jumping and excellent coordination aided by a very fast arm, which also helps him in attack where there are some small technical defects that go a little unnoticed at a youth level but which can be corrected with a little work. He’s very active against the block, he can do well but clearly the speed of the ball in the Superlega is different and we’ll have to be patient because he’ll need a period of adjustment. He’s a very young player who joins an important squad and who will have to know take advantage of the opportunity to be in a great team, training every day with high-level players and with a coach who loves to make young players grow.Surely the transition to the Superleague will be an important leap but Tomáš can be useful on a daily basis, trying week after week to grow, to gain experience and why not, also to be ready if needed!”
