An already rich palmares, even richer after this record-breaking season. A very important technical and experience background for Sir Susa Vim Perugia this year. An even more important consistency and presence in the Juventus group. A future which, after a sporting life treading the taraflexes of the most important Italian clubs, will still have black and white hues.
A cornerstone of the Block Devils’ seasonal poker is certainly Davide Candellaro. Ranked athlete, experienced, accustomed to the pressures and expectations of the square. Venetian center back who arrived at PalaBarton last summer and was immediately able to take on the role of leader of the dressing room even without playing a lot in a sensational department with Russo, Flavio and Solè as teammates. Yet in the photo galleries of every seasonal success the photo of the four central Juventus standard-bearers is never missing because, an open secret, great victories only arise from large groups.
“The relationship with Seba, Roby and Flavio? The important thing – explains the “Cande” – was to give a role to everyone, it is important to put order, to know where you are and what you have to do. We have played together and against the other guys in the past, we already knew each other and we are intelligent people who can understand the context in which they find themselves. All this meant that an excellent relationship was established between us. The season showed that the central defenders were really strong, if one player wasn’t doing well on the pitch another equally good one would come on. Always keeping the level very high in training meant that in the match we started from a very high starting point, I think this helped and was one of the positive notes of the season.”
Candellaro is someone who always knows how to carefully measure the words to use.
“The perfect season? Perfection doesn’t exist, but we certainly managed to complete all the team’s objectives. It’s clear that everyone has their own personal objectives, but I think the trophies won enhance the work we’ve done this season. The scudetto is the last in order of time and it is important, but all the trophies are important considering that the level is rising more and more and very quickly. This means that we have done things well and updated ourselves on volleyball because volleyball changes and doesn’t wait for you.”
Davide had a good time in Perugia. So good that…
“So good that I’ll stay here another year! I had a really good time in Perugia, I like working in environments where you can express new ideas, put into practice what you think and where you have people and staff around you who allow you to do this.
