Mint Vero Volley Monza is forced to give way in the first leg of the CEV Challenge Cup Final, after the defeat at the COS Torwar Hall in Warsaw. The first men’s team of the Vero Volley Consortium, in fact, fell 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19) against Projekt Warszawa. A match of ups and downs for the Monza team, who after a great second set were unable to find the right continuity to get to the bottom of a complicated match against a high-level opponent. For this match the starting sextet was made up of Kreling as director and Szwarc as opposite, Maar-Loeppky as a pair of spikers, Galassi-Di Martino as central defenders with Gaggini as libero. MVP of the match Semeniuk, author of 15 points. Among the Monza top scorers of the evening were the two Canadians Loeppky and Szwarc with 21 balls hit on the ground each. There will, however, be no time to rest for MINT Vero Volley Monza who will immediately return to the field on Saturday 24 February at 6.00 pm for the SuperLega Credem Banca championship, facing Padova away, before the decisive return match in the Challenge Cup Tuesday 27 February, 8.00 pm, within the friendly walls of the Opiquad Arena.
