The “golden Frenchman” remains in Siena. The setter Thomas Nevot has just played his first season in Italy, and with the Emma Villas shirt he was one of the protagonists of the beautiful ride that took the white and blue team to the playoff final. At 29 years of age Nevot has experienced a new important page in his career. This is a player who already had an important CV before arriving in Italy: two French championships won, two French Cups, a Cev Cup.

He immediately settled in very well in the Bel Paese, quickly learned the language and integrated himself into the playing mechanisms of Emma Villas Siena as best as possible. Now Thomas Nevot has signed the renewal of the agreement, and will therefore remain in Siena for another year.

Thomas Nevot, what do you want to say about the renewal of the contract with Siena after signing?
I am very happy to stay in Siena. I like the city, the company, the staff.

What is your opinion of your first season in Italy?
It was a good season, it won’t be easy to confirm. It was my first year outside France, I’m happy with how things went. I hope I can repeat myself in the next championship or do even better.

You integrated very quickly and also learned the Italian language very quickly.
I took language courses already in the summer, before arriving in Siena. I knew it was important to know the language of the country I was going to play in. I tried to learn Italian as quickly as possible, I read in Italian and then speaking every day with my classmates made everything easier.

What assessment do you give of the Serie A2 championship in which you played this season?
The level is really good, there are many excellent players. Playing in Italy allows you to improve and accumulate experience and skills.

What was the greatest emotion you experienced this season?
I experienced a lot during the playoffs. The victory in game 3 of the semi-final series against Porto Viro was certainly very beautiful.

You found yourself in a team that was almost completely renewed compared to the previous season: what was it like joining the group?
We worked a lot. We also experienced some difficult periods, but we came out of them with our heads held high and with our own strength. We never gave up and found solutions to whatever the difficulties were.
