ErmGroup Altotevere’s strong run, climbing to second place in the White Group of the Credem Banca Serie A3 championship, is obviously the result of the contributions of several key players. We’ve focused on the center and wing forwards, but the 60% offensive prolificacy achieved in last Sunday’s match against Negrini Cte Acqui Terme is also, and above all, the contribution of setter Jacopo Biffi, who must also act as the team’s captain on the court. His key role is making decisions and generating ball distribution that takes multiple factors into account; however, the playmaker often has mere seconds (if not moments) to decide what to do. In this regard, Biffi is demonstrating a quantum leap, so much so that he was unanimously recognized as one of the best players on the court in the match against the Piedmontese team. And it’s not the first time he’s excelled. “I always evaluate my performance based on how the team plays,” Biffi explains, “and I’m not the one who has to score points, but the one who has to manage my teammates as best as possible. Consistency and hard work are the right ingredients: every week there’s always something to improve, and with the three coaches we have, that’s possible.”
