As is tradition, the Toucans were received by the City Council in the Loggia on Wednesday afternoon for the official inauguration of the Serie A2 volleyball season, which begins next weekend.

Councilor Cantoni welcomed them and encouraged the start of the championship, emphasizing how last season had showcased the team’s outstanding qualities. This year, they were even strengthened in strategic positions, giving excellent hope for an even more spectacular finale.

After Paolo Biasin, president of the Brescia FIPAV committee, greeted them and expressed his best wishes, the ball was passed to President Giovanni Ieraci, who recalled the three finals reached and the second Cup won last season. He emphasized how this year is special because it marks the milestone of Atlantide’s twenty-five years of activity, to be honored with another championship geared towards that final leap to the top, spurred on by a crowd that has been among the largest in Serie A2 and which the club hopes to see back at the Palazzetto every Sunday, like a wave of energy. Brescia is a vibrant city with a complex social fabric, which can leverage its sporting excellence to engage young people and spread positive messages. Together, entrepreneurs and the city council can be crucial to the future and present of volleyball.
