The first day of the group stage of the 2025 Men’s Volleyball World Championship, taking place in the Philippines, has just begun.
The first Modena Volley player to take to the court was Ahmed Ikhbayri: despite the yellow-blue opposite hitter’s 17 points (fifteen in attack, one block, and one serving), Libya lost 3-1 to Canada. Tomorrow, at 4:30 a.m. Italian time, they face Turkey for the second day.
Next up was Matias Giraudo’s Argentina, who defeated Finland 3-2: the Canary Island setter played in the final two sets of the match. The next match is Tuesday, at 4:30 a.m. Italian time, against South Korea.
Finally, Arthur Bento’s Brazil and Simone Anzani and Luca Porro’s Italy: the Azzurri defeated Algeria 3-0 (four points, including two in attack and two blocking for Anzani, with Porro on the bench). Brazil, meanwhile, came from behind to defeat China 3-1, with Bento the star player and the match’s top scorer, scoring 17 points (fifteen in attack, one blocking, and one serving). Italy and Brazil are back in action on Tuesday, respectively against Belgium (3:30 p.m. Italian time) and the Czech Republic (4 a.m. Italian time).
