Sviluppo Sud Catania announces the signing of Leonel Marshall, an internationally renowned athlete who joins the new Catania volleyball project.
This addition of experience and personality represents a strategic addition to the roster ahead of the upcoming Serie A2 championship.
Marshall, a Cuban-born spiker who has become a naturalized Italian citizen, brings with him an extraordinary technical and human background. Born in Havana on September 25, 1979, he is the son of Leonel Marshall Sr., a former star of the Cuban national team and Olympic bronze medalist at the 1976 Montreal Games.
In Italy, he played for prestigious clubs such as Piacenza, Perugia, Latina, and Ortona, always leaving a lasting impression. His trophy collection is rich and varied: with Copra Piacenza, he won a Scudetto in the 2008/2009 season, an Italian Cup, and an Italian Super Cup, as well as reaching two Champions League finals. At the European level, he also won a CEV Cup. He later moved to Türkiye, where he won two national championships, a Turkish Cup, a Super Cup and a Challenge Cup with Fenerbahçe and Arkas Izmir.
