Cucine Lube Civitanova won Game 5 of the Semifinals and gained access to the Scudetto Final, where they will face Itas Trentino, thanks to their success at the Pala Barton Energy in Perugia in 4 sets. After a very tight first partial that ended with the home team Sir Susa Vim Perugia taking advantage by 29-27, the team from the Marche restarted with intensity, forcing the service and pushing in attack and took the other partials with determination (19-27, 17-25, 22-25). If the effectiveness of the team’s attack at the end of the match was balanced (50% for Sir and 49% for Lube) as well as the number of blocks (7 for the Block Devils and 6 for the Cucinieri), the important difference was from nine meters with the black and whites closing with 6 aces and 21 errors. Medei’s boys instead had 17 winning serves. With Civitanova’s qualification for the Scudetto Finals (and the consequent certainty of participating in the next Champions League), the 3rd Place Play Offs will see Sir Susa Vim Perugia and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza face off. Up for grabs, for the winning team, is a place in the Champions League. The loser of the 3rd Place Play Offs, instead, will take part in the next CEV Cup. The dates and times of the challenges will be announced in the coming days.

MVP: Mattia Bottolo (Cucine Lube Civitanova)

Sebastian Solè (Sir Susa Vim Perugia): “It’s a shame, I’m really sorry, technically we’ll have to go and study what was missing. They were definitely more decisive in serving, but also in attack we had opportunities that we couldn’t capitalize on. We fought until the end, but these are games in which every detail makes you win and we couldn’t do some of these details well. I think we shouldn’t throw away all the work we’ve done so far, because defeats come sooner or later. We have a Champions League Final Four to play. Now let’s put our heads down because it’s a big blow, but tomorrow we’ll get back to work”.

Giampaolo Medei (coach Cucine Lube Civitanova): “Beyond today’s match, I believe that in this series Lube has accomplished an incredible feat, because managing to come back from 0-2 against a strong and well-equipped team like Perugia is really very complicated. All of us were extraordinary. This was the victory of those who don’t feel sorry for themselves, of those who always look for solutions and do their best with what they have, strongly believing in their own means. We have created a masterpiece and now in the Final we will try to create another. I am very happy, also for our magnificent fans who have supported us and always support us. Now we focus on Trento, which we will have to face maintaining this mentality”.
