Lorenzo Magliano’s summer of sport is about to reach its climax. The 2005-born spiker for Alva Inox 2 Emme Service Porto Viro, captain of the Under-21 national team, is on the list of 14 players called up by coach Vincenzo Fanizza for the World Championships, scheduled for August 21st in Jiangmen, China.
Italy, the reigning vice-champion and fresh from qualifying for the 2026 European Championships, is in Pool D and will face Indonesia, Ukraine, France, Tunisia, and Argentina in the preliminary round.
This is Magliano’s second World Championship appearance, following his seventh-place finish at the 2023 Under-19 World Championships. The Far East trip will begin in the next few hours, departing from Fiumicino and heading to Tokyo for a training camp from August 11th to 15th.
