News on the Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza bench: Antonio Mariano becomes assistant coach to Dante Boninfante and Samuele Papi, while Filippo Pugnalini will take over the role of scout man.
Antonio Mariano, born in Palmi in 1993, served as scout man at Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza last season. He has significant experience in Italy and Europe. After starting as an assistant coach and scout man in Serie B in Calabria, he joined Volley Soverato in the women’s A2 league. His move to the Superleague came in the 2020-2021 season in Vibo Valentia, where he remained for two years. In the summer of 2022, he joined the Slovenian national team and the following summer, taking part in the Silver League, the European Championship, and the Olympic qualification. He worked at Monza, winning the Playoff Challenge in his first year and appearing in three finals (Scudetto, Coppa Italia, and Challenge Cup) in his second. Last season, he was at Piacenza. He is currently playing for the Slovenian men’s national team.
