Playing in Serie A is the dream of every child who starts playing volleyball. Doing it with the jersey of the team with which he started is even more so. But not for everyone it comes true. For Tommaso Bianchi, however, that moment has arrived. He, a product of the Cantù youth sector and former coach of the Under selections, will be the assistant to Captain Luca Butti for the next Serie A2 Credem Banca championship. “Tommy” played for Cantù from Under 13 to Serie C, and then spent the last two years with Valbreggia Volley, where he won promotion from Serie D to Serie C.
“’Tommy’ is a great story – says Coach Alessio Zingoni –. We were looking for a local boy for that role, and he is one of the first people I met when I arrived in Cantù a few years ago. He played in the youth sector, but due to various circumstances he went to gain experience in other teams. I am very happy to have him because he knows he has a big opportunity, and I am sure he will give his all. He has a good technical basis for his role, he certainly lacks a bit of vision on the speed of the ball and the exchanges at this level. He is already working on a physical level to get up to speed, and certainly when we start with the technical part it will take a little time to settle in, but he will succeed. The important thing is that he will always work, and I have no doubt about that”.
