At the 2025 World Championships in the Philippines, which kicked off today and will see the Final on September 28th, Cucine Lube Civitanova is one of the most represented teams in Italy, with seven players called up by their respective national teams. To be precise, they make up half of the Italian vice-champions’ squad.
Chasing the world title in the Italian national team is Lube captain Fabio Balaso, Italy’s libero and a key figure in coach Ferdinando De Giorgi’s team. Also joining him are spiker Mattia Bottolo, who is jostling for a starting spot after Daniele Lavia’s injury, and middle blocker Giovanni Gargiulo, who, after an injury suffered in training a few weeks ago, risked being sidelined from the World Championships and benefited from a photo-finish thumbs-up. His tenacity and lightning-fast recovery are rewarding.
