Allianz Milano had an easy time in the first leg of the Challenge Cup final: playing away to Belgian team Lindemans Aalst, the Milanese team won in three sets in just over an hour of play, winning all three sets quite comfortably. Ferre Reggers took center stage with 23 points; Tatsunori Otsuka also scored double figures for Roberto Piazza’s team (14). On the other side of the net, Marques (11) and Rempel (17) attempted to cause Milan problems. The return match – in Milan, a two-set win will be enough to win the trophy – is scheduled for a week’s time at the Allianz Cloud: Allianz is aiming to win the Challenge Cup for the second time after their success in 2020/21.
