A sweeter defeat couldn’t have happened for Allianz Milano. After winning the first two sets of the second leg of the Challenge Cup quarterfinals against Norwid Czestochowa—already enough to qualify for the semifinals—they were able to give their second strings a chance to shine, with Coach Piazza giving everyone a chance to shine. Among the key players on the Milan side was Ferre Reggers, MVP and scorer of 18 points. Lindqvist (13) and Ichino (10) also performed well. In the next round, Allianz will face Turkish side Altekma SK Izmir, who prevailed in the Golden Set against SCM Zalau. In the SuperLega Credem Banca, Milan is preparing for the Lombardy derby against Vero Volley Monza: the two teams will close out the 21st round, scheduled for 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 22nd.
