A 46-year-old former top-level opposite hitter, and a bench player for more than 20 seasons, this is the profile of Coach Tommaso Invernici, chosen by President Ambrogio Molteni as the new Head Coach of Campi Reali Cantù for the 2026/2027 season, the Cantù club’s first appearance in the Serie A3 Credem Banca. The Bergamo-born coach, this is his first time on the Serie A bench, although he has already proven himself as a player, and boasts over a decade of experience in other national volleyball categories.

WORDS FROM PRESIDENT AMBROGIO MOLTENI

Tommaso Invernici’s arrival for his first year at Libertas is a source of great satisfaction for me, as I believe he is an undeniably talented coach who will be leading a new and young team, competing in the Serie A3 Credem Banca championship for the first time.

After playing for over twenty years in various teams in the Bergamo, Crema, and Brescia areas since 1997, he has recently coached teams from nearby Crema and, most recently, Scanzorosciate, which plays in Serie B. He is therefore a man who comes directly from the playing field and is on the FIPAV committee in Milan as a federal instructor.

I hope his background will be the right one to manage a new team, which will need to be shaped by his hand to become a true team in every sense of the word.

COACH TOMMASO INVERNICI’S WORDS

I am delighted with the choice I’ve made. We have clashed with Cantù several times over the years, and the time has come for me to take this position. I thank the President for the opportunity and his trust. The team objectives will need to be calibrated to the type of group we build, so let’s see what the market has in store. It will certainly be a team with a strong youth component, which will need to develop everyone appropriately. And I think that’s also why the President chose me, given my experience in the various youth categories, not just the Senior ones. In any case, our intention is to do the best we can, without giving up our dreams.
