Cisterna Volley, after celebrating mathematically relegated, bids farewell to Filippo Lanza. The Zevio-born spiker is leaving for China, heading to Shanghai, to play the season finale in the China Super League, where he will wear the jersey of the Shanghai Brightman Volleyball Team, which has decided to rely on him to compete for the title in the playoffs.
“I thank the club for giving me the opportunity to try my hand at this new adventure,” Lanza emphasized. “The agreement at the start of the season included a possible transfer only once the objective, including the Scudetto playoffs, was achieved. If we had still been in contention for a top-eight finish, I would have stayed here, and if we had achieved them, I would, of course, have played until the end. Now that we are mathematically relegated, and the objective has been achieved, I have received the club’s approval to go to China. I had already been to Shanghai (2021-2022 season), but Covid put a stop to everything. Now I’m trying again.”
