The continuation of Negrini CTE Acqui Terme’s playoff journey will be decided on Sunday, March 29th at 6:00 PM at the Pala Capurso in Gioia del Colle (BA). It certainly won’t be a walk in the park. In front of a packed stadium with over 2,000 seats, the boys from Gioia del Colle will have to try to recover from a tie-break defeat in Valenza. Five sets in which the Apulian team, accompanied by a large and lively crowd of supporters, responded to every set Acqui Terme had an advantage, finally clinching the victory in the final minutes.
A match in which, however, the Acqui Terme team managed to perform to their full potential almost every time, and the final scoreline will depend on the return match, where, in the event of a tie, JV Gioia del Colle will have the advantage of playing the golden set in front of their home crowd.
Negrini CTE Acqui Terme will do everything possible to reopen the game, while the Apulian team will look to defend their advantage on home soil.
Acqui coach Simone Serafini stated after the first leg: “The 3-2 score leaves the game wide open and turns Game 2 into a real playoff: we’ll be playing in a very hot arena, in front of a fantastic crowd, but we’re ready to fight hard. Playing matches of this magnitude is a privilege, especially for the many young players and rookies on our roster, for whom this game represents a crucial learning experience. At this point, however, we can’t stop at the appetizer: today’s disappointment must be transformed into the decisive push to give our all and fight until the last ball.”
