He’s usually the one who speaks after defeats. The veteran, the locker room man, the Paduan but Reggio native by adoption who knows how to take responsibility when things don’t go well. But this time, for one night, Enrico Lazzaretto is happy to make an exception.
He is the “almost MVP” of this 2026 Del Monte Supercoppa Serie A3, an edition that will go down in the history of Domotek Reggio Calabria, alongside a superb captain Domenico Laganà. After a hard-fought 3-2 victory against a great opponent, the PalaBigi taboo—that lower ceiling that seemed like a nightmare—has finally been broken. And Lazzaretto, his voice hoarse with joy, recounts the feat.
“Reggio Emilia, in my opinion, is a very strong team. We managed to prevail in the tie-break, even with a few too many errors on my part. In the end, the mind does everything,” the Amaranth spiker began, emphasizing the group’s resilience.
“I told the guys that the tricolor Taraflex was probably the factor, because we’ve always won with it, even in the Italian Cup in Belluno. We should think about putting it at the PalaCalafiore,” joked Lazzaretto.
The Super Cup victory takes on an even more special flavor considering the league battle just three days earlier. How do you digest a heavy defeat and immediately reenergize? The veteran has no doubts:
“It’s always difficult to get your head back. On the other side of the net, it’s always difficult to reset,” he explained, while also taking a quick photo with the fans. “However, we have players who have played on important pitches, so they know how to do it, they know how to reset after a defeat. We’re strong in this respect too. We’re all together, we complement each other, we help each other out of difficult moments.”

“I dedicate this victory to my family, who came to see me again this time. Credit goes to Livia, who puts up with me every day and supports me. To the cats, who keep me company,” he smiled. “But I dedicate this victory to the entire city, which gives us great support. I’m happy.”

To those who pointed out the change in pace after the 1-0 win at Conad (referring to the league defeat), Lazzaretto was surprisingly honest: “No, absolutely not, I wasn’t expecting a final like this. From an emotional and character standpoint, I thought there would be a relaxation regarding the performance in Reggio Emilia. But that wasn’t the case.”

The scoreboard reopens. Finally, satisfaction returns to the Amaranth team.
Now the goal has already shifted: the promotion semifinals for A2 will begin on Saturday, April 25th.
