Sir Susa Scai Perugia is dominating even away from Umbria: after winning Game 1 of the Scudetto Finals in three sets, Angelo Lorenzetti’s team repeated their feat away from home, winning 3-1 in a sold-out Eurosuole Forum (4,198 fans) against Cucine Lube Civitanova. This was a key victory for the Block Devils, who will enter Game 3 with a golden opportunity to lift the Scudetto, their third in their history. Wassim Ben Tara was named MVP of the evening: the Perugia opposite hitter scored 23 points (56% attack); Oleh Plotnytskyi (18) and Kamil Semeniuk (13) also scored in double figures for the Block Devils. For Lube (who had a strong start to the match, leading the set count), Mattia Bottolo (16) was the top scorer, while Eric Loeppky and Aleksandar Nikolov finished with 14 points.
As in Game 1, this evening at the Eurosuole Forum, Lega Pallavolo Serie A and Credem Banca, the championship’s title sponsor, held a joint initiative: a young Lube athlete, Alessio, handed the official match ball to the two referees. This gesture once again places young people at the center of the volleyball world.
The next match, Game 3, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th, when, at 8:30 pm at the Pala Barton Energy, Sir Susa Scai Perugia will try to close out the series and secure the Scudetto. For Cucine Lube Civitanova, however, this is their last chance to reopen the series.
