Final game of the season: Prisma La Cascina bids farewell to Catania

It will be the final game of the season for Prisma La Cascina Taranto, who will face Catania in their final league match on Sunday at 6:00 PM at the PalaFiom. This match no longer places any seasonal objectives at stake, with both teams now out of the playoff race, but it still represents an important opportunity to end the season on a high note in front of their home fans.

After an intense season, marked by difficulties but also by a strong response in the second half of the season, the Ionian side hopes to end the season with a convincing performance and give their fans one last piece of satisfaction. Catania, on the other hand, also arrives without pressure, ready to play the match head-on.

The Sicilians are playing with a team led by coach Montagnani that, despite being without Basic, remains competitive: Volpe, former Cottarelli, Parolari, and another former Balestra player, with opposite Arinze—a true offensive threat with 26 points in his last outing—and Feri. This lineup, despite losing their last home game against Porto Viro, has shown good individual skills and the ability to stay in the game.

Basic’s absence is a significant variable, but it doesn’t change the attitude of a team that, with nothing to lose, can play with ease and intensity.

The same goes for Prisma La Cascina, which, after seeing the playoffs slip away in recent games, now aims to proudly close out a season that ended on a high.

Spiker Marco Pierotti said: “Even though it’s a game that doesn’t matter in terms of the standings—because the possibility of making the playoffs unfortunately ended in the last round, a disappointing result—we’ll still take to the court with the same approach we’ve had throughout this phase.

We want to finish the season in the best possible way, seeking a win that validates the work we’ve done. Catania will certainly come here with a determined spirit: all the teams want to play their best in the championship, so we expect a hard-fought match.

For our part, we’ll have to be good at taking advantage of the home court advantage, expressing our game to the fullest, and trying to bring home the result.”
