All good things come in threes! Matteo Pistolesi is the third and final addition to the Volley Savigliano roster ahead of the Credem Banca Serie A3 championship.

At 31 years old, the 1995-born player will be the most experienced player on the white-and-blue roster next season, building on a career in senior volleyball that’s now approaching 15 years. Indeed, a lot of time has passed since his debut at the then Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo in 2012, with plenty of memorable experiences for the Turin-born setter: 292 matches in total, including 75 in the Superleague, 119 in Serie A2, and 98 in Serie A3, resulting in 130 wins and 454 points. His trophy cabinet includes a Junior League title, won in Cuneo in 2012, and a Challenge Cup, won with Ravenna in 2018.

Now, in his fourth season at Savigliano, he’s become a key figure on and off the pitch, so much so that the news surrounding his stay is significant: he will be the new captain of Monge-Gerbaudo!

“It makes me proud to continue my adventure here,” Pisto explains. “I think I’ve had many moments, some more positive than others, but I also believe, after last season, I still have some unresolved issues, both personally and as a team. Let’s just say that, after the difficult start, we hoped we’d have more time to spend together and get back on track. This is the first reason that pushed me to say ‘yes’ again, along with the desire to put myself to the test again. This year, several guys who are great friends will leave, but it will be very challenging for me to help build a new group. Me as captain? I’m ready to take on this role, knowing that I’ll have to work with a team that will need to give a lot during the week to compete in what is undoubtedly a high-level championship.”
