A.S. Volley Lube announces the signing of Antonin Klimes, a rising middle blocker born in 2005 and standing 208 cm tall. A native of Břeclav, in the Moravian region of the Czech Republic, the athlete has signed a three-year contract and is ready to enhance the team with his athleticism and impressive skills. Already a member of his country’s senior national team, the 20-year-old is one of the most exciting prospects in Europe at the position. Coming off a successful season with Stefano Mascia’s VK CEZ Karlovarsko, Klimes won the Czech Extraliga in 2025/26, but was unable to reach the final of the Czech Cup, a trophy he had lifted two seasons earlier during his two-year stint with Black Volley Beskydy of Ostrava. After winning bronze at the U19 European Youth Olympic Festival and the U21 European Championship, the newcomer to the red and whites came close to winning the European League, but finished second with the Czech national team.
He was a player who rose to prominence during the 2025 World Championships and was sought after by the coaching staff for his enormous potential. Hired to strengthen Lube’s future, Klimes has what it takes to showcase his talent and make a significant contribution from his very first year.
