“It fills me with immense emotion, even more pride.” With these words, Billy Gurnari, technical director of Domotek Volley, reacted to being named an Honorary Coach by the FIPAV (Italian Volleyball Federation), an honor that adds to the CONI Star of Sporting Merit he previously received.
While the CONI award recognized his technical prowess and hard work, this new honor strikes a particularly strong chord for Gurnari: “Regardless of the results, it’s recognition of the work done, especially with young people,” he explained.
For the coach, the core of his mission goes beyond the playing field: “Having worked with so many young people, both boys and girls, and meeting them again after so many years and seeing in their eyes a form of recognition that goes beyond the technical aspect, but above all from the moral perspective of their growth.”
